Apologies for the English; I'm not fluent in any other language. Anyway, I don't visit Deviant Art, so answer me this… Can you view images on Deviant Art free of charge? If so, merely posting the image elsewhere is NOT theft. By placing the image on Deviant Art, it was placed into the public domain. "Theft" of an image posted to the Internet doesn't occur until you violate copyright, by claiming that someone else's art is actually your own (whether or not it was obtained free of charge) or until you either make a profit off of it or deprive the artist of a profit. No one has attempted to hide the artist's signature, or claim the work as their own, so until someone can prove that profits were illegally made or prevented, please stop using words like "Theft".

As for you, Specwriter, the rules are what they are. If Deviant Art artists do NOT want their images to be displayed without their permission, you don't have the right to blame them. Deviant Art is a site where artists can show their arts so as to be known one way or another, but you MUST respect their rules

Posting anything on any website makes it open to anyone, but that doesn't mean you can just take it and post it elsewhere. People watermark their work to protect it, and when it's getting places that they did not intend for it to be, that protection lessens. On deviantArt, since it is implied that anything that you create and post belongs to you, you have options to set on each image guidelines for usage... whether or not it is okay to repost somewhere else and all. Under what circumstances using one's images is right. Personally, I discourage any reuse of my images because sure, some people just want to share work, but others want to take credit, and I can only do so much to try to stop it. I think it's only right to at least ask the original artist if it's okay to repost. I mean, as long as it's made clear that there will be no profit made from it, the artist should be okay with it.

"Theft" indicates an illegal act. Reposting an unedited image is unethical, but not illegal. Complain about it if you must, insist that the image be removed if you must, but please do not accuse the posters at this site of an illegal act they did not commit.

First of all, all of you should read the terms of use of deviantArt, as you obviously haven't. When posting something on DA as an artist, you give all copyrights to DA. Those copyrights include : copying, and broadcasting the image by publishing it. So 1) hell no, DA has nothing to do with the public domain, and 2) nobody has the right to take a drawing from DA and put it elsewhere, unless the artist gave you explicit permission to do so. So yes, Specwriter, it is illegal to repost an image. Lastly, DA owns those copyrights thanks to its terms of use, and if DA wants to crush you, they can. That's how artists are protected on DA, and why I chose myself to post my own drawings there.

So please do not talk about law when you don't know anything about it. And you're right Specwriter, this is not theft. This is basic violation of common author rights.

So I'll make it clear once and for all, and edit a Terms of Use of Chiboard, telling you this : any image posted here, on Chiboard, is either :

• of unknown source, and shall therefore be removed if the real author shows up and tells us to do so
• of known source, but free to use in a way of promoting the artist (as it is tolerated on "fansites", and will be tolerated - BUT STILL ILLEGAL, THERE IS NO DENYING FROM ME ABOUT THAT - for most manga artists)
• of known source, and with explicit permission from the artist (that goes for DA artworks)
• in the public domain

Therefore :

If YukiSukinomoto doesn't tell us the name of the author, we won't make a move about it, until is given the name of a person on DA who has drawn this artwork, and hasn't been asked permission. Until YukiSukinomoto gives us names, her posts shall be considered SPAM.

If the name of the DA artist is known, and if the ownership of the artwork can be verified, we will delete the image from Chiboard immediately. If a poster wants to repost the image, he/she shall ask the artist for permission.

Très résumé, l'image que tu as postée est sous-droits d'auteurs parce qu'elle a été prise sur DA sans la permission de l'auteur ce qui semble ne pas lui avoir plu...

L'image postée est sous copyright de son auteur sur DA, ce qui n'a pas plu à une tierce personne. Tant que l'auteur ne réagit pas lui-même, on ne fait rien et on supprime les posts de la tierce personne, considérés comme du spam.

Il y a la signature ° ° de l'auteur, en bas. Perso, j'trouve que le copyright est assez clair, c'est l'image du monsieur ou de la madame qui a mis sa signature. maintenant, internet, c'est aussi ça. Quand on poste quelque chose, tout le monde peut le récupérer > > faut pas trop se plaindre après.

Bah, si quelqu'un trouve le deviantArt de cette Susan Li, alors devilblood pourra lui demander la permission de poster son dessin ici. C'est tout.

moi ca me ferait plaisir de voir mes dessin ( a condition qu'on laisse mon nom dessus ) poster sur un site d'image car ca veut dire qu'on aime mon dessin
